HS code lookup

Type the product name or a code you know; see the matching chapters, headings and commodity codes.

How is it calculated?

The first 6 digits of an HS (Harmonized System) code are the same everywhere. The UK uses 10 digits, Turkey 12; digits after the sixth are national.

Results come from the UK Trade Tariff service. For imports elsewhere, confirm the national digits and the duty rate in that country's tariff.

Assumptions

  • Source: GOV.UK Trade Tariff API (Open Government Licence v3.0). Results are cached for 24 hours.
  • This is not a binding classification; if unsure, ask your customs broker or apply for an advance tariff ruling.

Frequently asked questions

Is an HS code the same in every country?

The first 6 digits are; later digits are national subdivisions (UK 10 digits, EU CN 8, Turkey 12).

What should I search for?

A plain product name works best, for example "olive oil" or "bicycle tyres".
