What to Do When a Truck Is Late: Rescheduling Dock Slots Without Chaos
Every warehouse has trucks that run late. The cost is not only the missed slot: the dock sits idle, the next truck waits, and someone spends the afternoon on the phone rearranging the day.

Find out early
Waiting for the slot to pass is the most expensive way to learn that a truck is late. Log216 estimates arrival from the driver's phone or telematics position and, when configured, from a traffic-aware route. It only changes a booking's estimate after several consistent readings, and it says plainly when a position is too old to trust.
Offer real alternatives
- A new time and dock after the estimated arrival, ranked by waiting time, whether the dock changes and whether staff capacity allows.
- A swap with a truck that is already in the yard or arriving early, so the early truck takes the late truck's slot and the late truck takes the early truck's slot.
- Another warehouse of the same company where the carrier has an active link, with the drive time added.
Where the AI assistant fits
Rules produce the options that are allowed; Logi, the assistant, looks at the situation and picks one. It considers the carrier's recent history at this warehouse, how busy that hour is, staff capacity and cold-chain cargo, and writes a short reason. If Logi is unavailable, the rule-based order is used and the screen does not claim AI was involved.
The operator decides
Nothing moves on its own. The suggestion appears on the daily screen, the yard board and the Orchestra view; when the operator approves, both drivers and carriers are told their new time. If the situation changes before approval, for example the truck arrives or the delay clears, the suggestion is refused instead of applied.
Frequently asked questions
Can the warehouse allow automatic rescheduling?
No. It is a deliberate decision: Logi suggests, a person approves, and every change is recorded.
What if the driver reports the delay by hand?
A delay reported by a person is protected for a configurable time, so a position reading does not overwrite it.
